The National Accreditation System Has Been Introduced in Uzbekistan’s Healthcare Sector
As part of comprehensive reforms of the healthcare system in Uzbekistan, the National Accreditation System for medical organizations has been introduced for the FIRST TIME.
National accreditation is a modern and systematic mechanism aimed at improving the quality of medical services, ensuring patient safety, and fostering a culture of quality within healthcare institutions.
This system is an integral part of the large-scale healthcare reforms implemented under the leadership of the President of the country and enables the assessment of medical organizations based on safety, efficiency, and international standards.
The accreditation processes are coordinated by the Center for Licensing and Accreditation of Medical Organizations under the Ministry of Health. The National Standards developed by the Center are based on international requirements and local best practices, were approved in 2025, and have been put into practical implementation.
These standards cover all key areas of medical organizations’ activities. In particular, they address leadership and management, safety of buildings and equipment, infection control, clinical practice and treatment processes, pharmaceutical management, protection of patients’ rights, human resources management, and professional development.
As the first practical result of the implementation of the National Accreditation System, the multi-profile medical center “M-Clinic” in Tashkent successfully became the first institution to undergo accreditation and was awarded the highest category. A National Accreditation Certificate awarding ceremony was held at the center following the completion of the process.
The introduction of the National Accreditation System will lead to improved quality of medical services, enhanced patient safety, alignment of healthcare institutions with international standards, and the development of healthy competition between the public and private sectors.
