The regular meeting of the Ministries of Health of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states is being held in Bishkek. The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan is actively participating in the event.
The delegation is headed by Alisher Boboev, First Deputy Minister of Health. It also includes Jaloliddin Asamutdinov, Director of the Center for Licensing and Accreditation of Medical Organizations under the Ministry of Health.
The agenda of the meeting covers issues related to expanding cooperation in healthcare, exchanging experience, and developing new areas of collaboration. Special attention is being given to initiatives aimed at advancing medical tourism within the SCO framework.
In particular, the initiative proposed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the SCO Summit held in Tianjin, China, on August 31 – September 1, 2025, to establish the SCO Medical Tourism Alliance, has become one of the key topics of discussion.
During the meeting, the significance of the Alliance, its main objectives, and implementation mechanisms are being thoroughly discussed. The initiative is expected to elevate medical tourism within the SCO region to a new level and strengthen practical cooperation among member states.
The Uzbek side presented concrete proposals aimed at developing cooperation in medical tourism, enhancing human resource capacity, facilitating the exchange of best practices, and implementing joint projects.
According to experts, the Alliance will serve not only as a platform for experience exchange but also as a solid foundation for launching new joint initiatives, introducing innovative solutions, and building sustainable cooperation in the field of medical tourism.
