In a private clinic, a first qualification category is not mandatory for a surgical assistant.
Qualification requirements for staff of the surgical department of a non-governmental medical institution
In the event that a surgical (operating) department is established in a non-governmental inpatient medical institution, the department must be staffed with medical personnel who meet the following requirements:
– a practicing surgeon holding a qualification category of at least the first level in the relevant specialty;
– an anesthesiologist-resuscitator holding a qualification category of at least the first level in the relevant specialty;
– an assistant physician holding a qualification category in the specialty of surgery;
– an anesthesiology and intensive care nurse, as well as an operating room nurse, each holding a qualification category of at least the first level.
Furthermore, when a surgical department operates in a non-governmental inpatient medical institution, qualification category requirements are applied separately to the physician directly performing the surgical procedure and to the medical personnel assisting in the operation:
– A physician independently performing a surgical procedure (for example, an obstetrician-gynecologist, urologist, traumatologist, etc.) must hold a qualification category of at least the first level in their specialty.
– An assistant physician participating in the surgical procedure must hold a qualification category in their specialty; however, the level of the qualification category is not strictly specified (it may be third, second, first, or the highest).
Note:
Failure to comply with these requirements is classified as a gross violation of licensing requirements and conditions.
